Incline Village's Gap Between Golf and Diamond Peak Is Mostly a Construction Zone This Year

Diamond Peak is planning to open on Thursday, December 3, 2026, conditions permitting. That's 52 days from today. In that stretch, nearly every recreation venue the Incline Village General Improvement District runs is either mid-renovation, closed for the season behind a construction fence, or still in design. The district is doing its rebuilding in the quiet weeks. The ski area that helps pay for the rest of the system has a lodge project of its own in the queue.

So the next seven weeks are a construction calendar with a few parties mixed in. The one date that costs residents money is October 31.

Where the work is happening right now

Venue What's going on Expected through
The Chateau Main entrance closed to the public on weekdays. Use the south side entrance Exterior work into November 2026, then interior renovations
Championship Golf Course Cart path and parking lot project, 14 holes in play October 18
Recreation Center Phase 2 HVAC project, extended after unforeseen conditions Mid-October
Incline Beach Beach House construction, temporary entrance west of the usual one Mid-summer 2027 projection
Burnt Cedar and Ski Beach food and drink Closed May 2027

The Chateau change is the one you'll run into first. Starting October 5, IVGID moved weekday visitors to the south side entrance "until further notice." The Grille is reached along the balcony on the building's west face or by the stairs from ground level, and the Pro Shop through the ground-level doors on the same west side. The district's venue modifications page says exterior roofing repairs are expected to run into November. Interior renovations will be scheduled after those repairs. That means the building is likely to stay a work site after golf is done.

Golf ends soon and on a shortened course. The Mountain Course was scheduled to close October 11. The Championship Course and The Grille at The Chateau are listed as open through October 18. Under IVGID's October 5 to 18 project schedule, the Championship Course plays 14 holes. Holes 13 through 16 are closed, and holes 4 through 6 have reopened as cart-path-only. The Grille, at 955 Fairway Blvd., is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday until its seasonal close.

Down at the lake, the Incline Beach House project has moved the usual entrance to a temporary one just west of it. IVGID's May update projected completion in mid-summer 2027. That puts a second summer of beach construction on the calendar.

The venue paying for much of it is next

IVGID's own reporting explains why the district treats Diamond Peak's facilities as urgent. In the district's September 2026 Snowflake Lodge status update, trustees are described as viewing the ski area as the district's "cash cow." Profits from Diamond Peak support other recreation facilities. Trustees broadly agreed that doing nothing risked the resort losing relevance and market share, which would put the economics of the broader recreation system at risk.

So the mid-mountain lodge is the next big piece. On September 23, 2026, the board approved a contract with CCY Architects for 30% design of a replacement Snowflake Lodge. The preliminary targets the design will test:

  • About 11,600 square feet of lodge
  • 3,500 square feet of outdoor deck
  • 160 indoor seats and 175 outdoor seats
  • Event space for roughly 120 people

IVGID stresses that these numbers are design targets and not a final building or an approved operating program. The public gets its first look at the concept at a community engagement event expected in January or February 2027. A final design and cost estimate is likely to go to the board in March or April 2027. Any construction is several steps beyond that, with permitting decisions still ahead. This winter, skiers will still use the current lodge.

October 31 is the price step, and it now repeats in December

If you hold an IVGID Picture Pass, the resident discount on a Diamond Peak season pass is large. It still moves on the same calendar as public pricing.

Adult pass, ages 24 to 64 Through Oct. 31 Nov. 1 to Dec. 18
IVGID Picture Pass holder $412 $513
Public $588 $733

Waiting past Halloween adds $101 to the resident adult price. The new rule for 2026 is a third step. Diamond Peak's IVGID deals page says resident season pass prices will also rise in mid-December, when public prices do, with a new Regular tier starting December 19. Those rates are still listed as TBD. Other resident rates through October 31 are $248 for youth 13 to 23, $141 for children 7 to 12, $259 for seniors 65 to 69 and $113 for ages 70 to 79. Ages 6 and under and 80 and up ski free.

Three fine-print items catch households every year:

  1. IVGID Recreation Punch Cards don't qualify for season pass discounts. They only cover discounted daily lift tickets. An active Picture Pass is required.
  2. The transferable pass is $1,269 for everyone, with no resident discount.
  3. Pass age category is set by the holder's age on December 1.

What the lifts open to in December

This season's upgrades are concentrated where beginners and crowds meet. Diamond Peak has added a TechnoAlpin TT10 tower-mounted fan gun and a TR10 movable fan gun in the base area, where multiple trails converge and the chairlift loading areas need extra snow. Beginner group lessons at the Ski & Ride Center and the Children's Ski & Ride Center grow to 2.5 hours, running 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m.

The rest is social. The new Get Lifted Coffee + Waffles trailer will park in the Base Area Plaza on busy weekends and holidays. Local DJ Dom Morelli's Friday Fundays après series returns to the Loft Bar on select Fridays, with dates still to be posted. Season pass holders get an hour of early access on the Lakeview chairlift at 8 a.m. on a February 2027 date to be announced, with breakfast at Snowflake Lodge.

The anniversary carries over too. The resort opened as Ski Incline on November 19, 1966, and it plans more retro "$60 Days" for lift tickets and learn-to-ski packages this winter. A free 60th-anniversary poster by local artist Bryn Merrell is available at the resort's events and at the Diamond Peak Sports Shop in the Base Lodge.

On the dining side, the one change this year is a familiar room under new owners. Paxton's Settlement took over the former Austin's space at 120 Country Club Drive #24. The Tahoe Daily Tribune reported in March on its scratch cooking and frequently changing menu. At the same address in Suite 27, Carved Roots is listed as coming soon, with no opening date posted.

On SR 28, the Tahoe Transportation District's North Parking Project plans 38 more spaces and a transit shelter north of the existing 90-space East Shore Trailhead lot. Its posted schedule anticipated construction from spring through fall 2026. According to the Tahoe Fund, the new spaces will be paid parking, like the existing lot. Check the agency's page for current status before planning a trail day around it.

At Tahoe Truckee Real Estate Group, we follow IVGID's capital projects because the Chateau roof, the Beach House and a future Snowflake Lodge are part of what an Incline Village address includes.
